Here are some major turning points in my academic life:  I received my B.S. and M.A. in mathematics from Indiana University, Bloomington. After teaching mathematics for several years, I completed my Ph.D. in the Conceptual Foundations of Science Program at the University of Chicago, under the surname Eden. After working three years as a fellow in the Max-Planck-Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte in Berlin, I returned to Turkey in 1999. Since then I have been working in the Philosophy Department of Boğaziçi University.

These years, I try to contain my research interests within the following fields:  Ottoman science; philosophy of technology; history of philosophy of science, including Kant’s theoretical philosophy; and philosophy of probability and statistical reasoning, including critical thinking and theories of scientific evidence.
